You try to open your eyes but they sting at the light. You see a blurry outline at your side.

“Thank god you’re alright, _____. You should rest.” Ludwig’s accent always makes you giggle, but this time you simply can’t. You crumple in pain as it shoots through your torso and down your limbs. Even your face stings when you yell out and clench your jaw.

Ludwig tries to stop you from moving, but you automatically assume a tight fetal position, so he just holds your shoulder and wrist gently. You slowly look out to him. His piercing blue eyes are just inches from yours… You see worry in them.

“Try not to move _____. You’ve been through a lot. Please, just… sleep.” He goes to move away so you lift your arm to grab his wrist. You wince in pain but you catch his fingers and he turns back.

“I told you, don’t move.” You hold tighter to his hand and pull. He must see that it hurts and so he kneels down so you can talk.

You breath in to speak and your ribs burn. Your eyes start to water and sting, but you hold it together. You don’t want to let him see just how much it hurts.

“Ludwig… What happened?” You somehow keep your voice steady but your next breath tears at your ribs. You can’t help but wince again and Ludwig guesses that you’re in more pain than you’re showing.

“I promise we will tell you, but first you need to get well enough so we can talk properly…” He gazes into your eyes again, “Deal?” He looks across the room and signals to someone you can’t see.

He looks back at you, and as you nod in agreement you hear strange rustling sounds from somewhere behind you. You look into your knees to concentrate on breathing. You hear several sets of footsteps hurry in your direction but Ludwig stops them at the door before you even realise that he’s moved.

“She’s awake but needs to sleep. Kiku, Gilbert, will you help me get her comfortable? She’s clearly in a lot of pain.” He tries to whisper but you hear him. You hear Kiku state that you need to lie flat but he's too quiet to hear properly.

Ludwig comes back into view with Kiku, but you don’t see Gil. Before you can wonder where he is, you’re rolled onto your back (by Gil) by your shoulder and hip. The pain engulfs you again and you try to fight your way back onto your side but Ludwig virtually lays on your legs and there’s no point fighting against Gil. Kiku’s suddenly at your side and grabs your hand to try and help you to be calm.

After you’ve stopped struggling and breathed a few times they let go again, but Kiku stays put.

“I’ve been preparing some medicine with Yao. It doesn’t taste good but hopefully it will help you to heal quickly.” Kiku says this in a way which states you have no choice in accepting it.

“Here.” He holds out a porcelain tea cup and helps you drink. After a sip he lets you swallow.

You feel your face warm but you can’t help the expression of dislike; half due to the taste and half due to swallowing.

“Told you.” He smiles a little, but brings back the cup. You are willing to finish it all, both to accept Kiku and Yao’s efforts, and for any hope of not being crippled by trying to speak.

He squeezes your hand, stands and shoos out everyone, who you could now see at the door. There aren't many countries there but they all look worried for you (which is a little surprising). However, you also notice that many of them are bandaged and bruised.

You try to smile at them in reassurance and you see Feliciano trying not to cry behind Ludwig. “It’s my fault” he says between gasps and sobs. Ludwig hugs and shushes him. You can see that they care about each other, but it isn't the same as before.

There are many things buzzing around your head but the medicine Kiku had given you is so comforting…

Also... When I started writing I realised I had loads going on in my head... I'm no where near finishing where I want to go with this, so I'm uploading chapters

I will not tell you which to do... People who know me openly call me insane, therefore I watch Hetalia and feel normal
